The Congress of Panama was held in 1826 at the initiative of Simon Bolivar.
It brought together delegates from Mexico, Central America, Peru and Gran Colombia for the purpose of creating a shared federal assembly in matters of foreign policy and defence. Its efforts were ultimately unsuccessful.
