Battle of Arques
A series of skirmishes between Henri IV and the duc de Mayenne that took place around the city of Dieppe between 15 and 27 September 1589. Although the battle did not represent an overwhelming victory for Henri, it allowed him – slightly more than a month after acceding to the throne – to strengthen his position.
